MG_3255-scaled

PROJECT SUMMARY

BOCAIP through The ACHAP Global Fund, implements a Community TB/HIV Project which started in 2016 and ends in 2018.  BOCAIP implements this project in 9 health districts namely; Kgalagadi South, Kgalagadi North, Kweneng West, Serowe, Bobirwa, North East, Tutume, Ngamiland, and Okavango.  The project has 3 modules which are; TB Care and Prevention (TCP), Treatment Care and Support (TCS), and Prevention Program for youth and Adolescents (10-24 years).

RATIONALE

In 2000s AIDS devastated many countries, leaving countless orphans and shattered communities. On the other hand Tuberculosis is the world’s leading killer among infectious diseases. HIV and TB are a deadly combination, as each fuels the progress of the other in infected patients. TB is the leading killer of people living with HIV; about 40 percent of deaths among people with HIV are due to TB. Every person who is HIV-positive should be screened and monitored for TB, and every person diagnosed with TB also needs to be tested for HIV. This project therefore is designed to pull the resources in order to channel them strategically in programs to end AIDS and TB epidemics. ( https://www.theglobalfund.org)
