The annual Month of Prayer was officially launched in the town of Lobatse, with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Dithapelo Keorapetse, leading the launch under the theme “Let There Be Life.”
In his inspiring address, Honourable Keorapetse encouraged citizens to combine their faith with healthy and responsible lifestyles, allowing these values to guide their everyday choices and behaviour. He also paid tribute to the pioneers who played a significant role in the fight against HIV/AIDS, recognising the progress made through their dedication and sacrifice.
He reminded the nation that the responsibility to continue this important work has now been passed on to all of us, alongside organisations such as NAHPA and BOCHAIP, which continue to champion healthier communities and support the fight against HIV/AIDS and other health and social challenges.
The church community came together in unity to pray for Botswana’s leaders, the nation’s young people, and healing and positive change in response to the social challenges facing the country.
The guest speaker also highlighted pressing societal issues, including non-communicable diseases (NCDs), gender-based violence (GBV), new HIV infections among young people, and road crashes, emphasising the urgent need for collective action.
The gathering concluded with a powerful message of faith and hope:
“If there is a man to pray, there is a God to answer.”
The call is now to each and every one of us. Let us join hands, take responsibility, and play our part in building healthier, safer and more hopeful communities.
