BOCHAIP Launches the Safari Care Programme at the 2026 HATAB Annual Conference

This innovative initiative responds to the urgent need to bring holistic health services directly to people working within Botswana’s tourism industry—from safari camps and lodges to tour guides, drivers, hospitality workers and support staff. Many of these employees work in remote locations, where access to comprehensive health services can be limited.

Through Safari Care, BOCHAIP seeks to bridge this gap by taking health services closer to where people live and work. The programme adopts a holistic approach to wellness, with a focus on HIV prevention and care, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), sexual and reproductive health, mental and emotional wellbeing, health education, screening and early intervention.

The programme also recognises that a healthy tourism workforce is essential to a thriving tourism sector. By supporting the health and wellbeing of employees, Safari Care contributes to stronger workplaces, healthier communities and a more resilient tourism industry.
